Due to Random VCS, an Exhibitionist Gets Caught in a Pornography Article

22 December 2019

The term VCS (Video Call Sex) is already widely known by users of online messaging applications, such as WhatsApp, Line, Telegram, and so on. The video call feature, which was created to provide a new experience in virtual communication, is actually being misused by some users for inappropriate things. RRW, a WhatsApp application user, uses the video call feature to show off his genitals while masturbating to the person he is talking to. Unfortunately, the people he was talking to were people he didn't know in real life.

RRW admitted to obtaining the victim's contacts from the contact list on his female friend's e-mail account, which was also connected to the suspect's cellphone. After collecting contacts, he started calling the numbers randomly and then launched the action. According to RRW's statement, he has been carrying out this practice since November 2019 and dozens of women have been recorded as victims. Fortunately, CT (one of RRW's victims) recorded RRW's actions and reported it to the police so that the Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri managed to secure RRW on December 10 2019.

For his actions, RRW was charged with Article 45 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (1) of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions and/or Article 29 of Law No. 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
